Every summer, the Strawberry Festival comes around and people sell things. One of the things that interests me are the fuzzy animal hats, but they're just too expensive. So, when I saw a pattern for those hats in a book at Pacific Fabrics, I was excited to make one. I bought super soft fuzzy minky fabric from the remnant table. My mom helped me make the pattern and I cut the fabric with my new left handed scissors! At this point my mom said since I was making this hat anyway, it reminded her of a Bar-ba-loot from The Lorax. I linked it to Project Run and Play this week.
I'm so excited to wear it to school. My favorite parts are the pockets and how I can wrap it around my neck like a scarf.
Very nice work! We love to sew too, and some of the seamstresses at www.skirtfixation.com are your age. I (the mom!) did our post for Project Run & Play (you can see it here: http://skirtfixation.com/2014/01/german-gretl-costume-sound-music/) but if you browse our blog you'll see lots of inspiring projects by younger seamstresses. Keep up the great work, sewing is a skill you'll be able to use your whole life! And submit some of your work to us, we'd love to feature either an outfit drawing, or something you've made! Our only guideline is that it has to include our passion, a skirt!
